This first book in the "Return of the African Diaspora" series introduces Kristin, a spiritually conscious history professor and Tuskegee grad who finds her life entirely altered after taking a somewhat random visit to Ghana.

Instead of  finding a brief distraction from her ex-husband and the love of her life, as she had hoped, Kristin finds herself pulled instead toward the fulfillment of Marcus Garvey's ambitious dream.

"A Mother for Celeste," Book I in the "Return of the African Diaspora" series, is a rich tale woven around often-unacknowledged aspects of our history. It re-examines the origin of racism with a sterile look at American slavery from its economic basis. We are aided in recognizing our own resilience and in remembering who we are, as we turn the book's pages. The timing of our ancestors capture is shown in relation to the seal that it placed on our individual fates in America, for many years after slavery ended, and how that timing still influences the wide variations in our evolution.

This first book in the 2-part series gives special attention to the plight of those among us whose ancestors were too traumatized by their slave experiences to have anything to pass on.  It urges  us to look closely at residual issues like "color" within the black community and to acknowledge the many hurts that have been left unresolved.

"A Mother for Celeste" is a colorful and entertaining story about forgiveness and the path toward healing relationships of all kind, especially the relationship between the Diaspora in America and Mother Africa.
