24-Year-Old Creates The Uber Of Haircuts

Who has time to wait for a cab anymore? Life moves fast so it makes sense to hail a ride from an app, these days. Darren Tenkorang thinks it’s about time we shift the way we approach the haircut experience, also. Only 24 years of age, Darren has co-founded “Trim-It,” a barber shop on wheels that allows customers to book service on an app. If you need a cut on the fly or just don’t like waiting in line at the shop, this Black entrepreneur has just the fix for you.

According to Darren, “The new generation, like me, just want a trim and to get on with their day. We live our life fast paced.” Trim-It caters to that shift in lifestyle but also insists on exquisite service. Clients are served aboard a luxury mobile barbershop and the first cut for clients is given at no charge. The concept is bold and possibly, a paradigm shift in personal grooming. No one foresaw what would happen to the taxicab industry just 15 years ago. Milkmen didn’t foresee being obsolete back in the day, either. It just may be that in the future, haircuts on demand will be the norm.

Trim-It is based in the UK and offers service there only, at this time. With time, the company may expand to the US or entrepreneurs here may adopt the concept — only time will tell. Either way, this young entrepreneur has come up with a fascinating concept and serves as yet another example of the brilliance and ingenuity of Black entrepreneurs, globally. Fellas if you’re heading to the barber shop this week, think about how much more convenient it would be if your barber was coming to you.
