Brandice Daniels Unveils Harlem's Fashion Row Experience

Harlem’s Fashion Row is a platform for multicultural fashion designers that has been featured in the New York Times, NY Magazine, Elle, ESSENCE, and the Wall Street Journal. The owner, Brandice Daniels, founded Harlem’s Fashion Row in 2007 to exercise her passion for fashion and to gain exposure for multicultural designers and highly skilled professionals in the fashion industry. Daniels’ goal is to “curate one designer, one story, and one collection at a time” and we must say, she’s doing an awesome job. [caption id="attachment_2851" align="aligncenter" width="248"] Brandice Daniels – Owner Harlem’s Fashion Row[/caption] HFR is attempting to fill the void of having less than 1%  of the fashion designed by people of color in big name department stores and e-Commerce sites.  With the many partnerships that Harlem’s Fashion Row currently has developed, the company is now able to create glamorous fashion shows for the multicultural designers; thus, allowing them to showcase their fashion to store buyers, celebrities, and other industry professionals.  The days of Daniels begging designers to participate in Harlem’s Fashion Row’s fashion shows is a thing of the past.  Today, the company is accepting applications and using a very rigorous selection process to choose the right designers.

To be accepted into the Harlem’s Fashion Row fashion shows, designers have to submit an application, be selling online, and must have been in business for at least two years.  Daniels personally does the interviews to ensure that she finds the right designers for the job.  According to Daniels, she’s “always looking for someone who has a designer’s heart, meaning someone who isn’t going to quit when it gets hard. ”  Because Daniels has a story to tell herself and has proven that hardwork is required, but pays off, she’s expecting the same from the designers.

The event in Memphis included a fashion and style breakfast with ESSENCE’s Editor-at-Large, Mikki Taylor, a mini fashion conference with ESSENCE’s Fashion and Beauty Director, Julee Wilson, Celebrity Stylist and Founder of Misa Hylton Fashion Academy, Misa Hylton, and Celebrity Stylist, Wouri Vice, and a HFR 10th Anniversary Fashion Experience with very talented designers. HFR provides the platform for not only the creative talents taking part in the show, but also for the people attending the show. So, if you’re considering a career in the fashion industry, contact these people. They are on Facebook, Instagram, have email addresses, and more. Misa Hylton has a fashion school and is a celebrity stylist. Do you know how valuable it would be to attend the school of someone who has successfully done the work you want to do? Reach out to Wouri Vice for styling advice or just advice about the industry; He was hilarious and so much fun. Send Julee Wilson samples/pieces of your work. She will rock it. She is genuine, fun, has a very bubbly personality, and if she likes your work, she just might feature you. Once you have it all together, reach out to Mrs. Harlem’s Fashion Row herself, Brandice Daniels. The native Memphian had a dream to move to NYC to gain a great career in the fashion industry. She made it happen. Use her platform to make yours happen.]]>

  1. Dear Ms. Brandice Daniels,

I was reading an article on fashions and I was wondering if you could recommend some of your fashion designers?. I am attending a wedding in the near future and would like to shop for some dresses/pants sets. I would appreciate your assistance.
    Thank you very much.

    Ms. Belinda J. Bush
