Black Owned Company Creates Thousands of Call Center Jobs In Distressed Neighborhoods

Chime Solutions currently employs about 1,500 people in a call center located about 17 miles south of Atlanta, in Clayton County. Chime Solution’s primary business is to offer customer service support for companies. The company has immediate plans to open a new call center in Charlotte, which will reportedly create 1,000 jobs. Mark Wilson, the company’s CEO, told Qcitymetro that locating in Clayton County, Ga was strategic because of the economic need of that community. The new facility in Charlotte will also target an economically challenged community.

CEO Mark Wilson

Clayton County ranks among the worst in Georgia with respect to unemployment. Census figures indicate that 72% of Clayton’s residents are Black and 16% are below the poverty line. In what was formerly a J.C. Penny store, Chime Solutions now employs 1,500 people in a 120,000-square-foot space in Clayton. With the new call center in Charlotte, Chime Solutions will add an additional 1,000 employees and the company also has plans to open another facility in Dallas. In fact, Chime Solutions is on a mission to create 10,000 jobs across the country over the next few years, according to Wilson.

Wilson not only focuses on creating jobs but also, developing his employees in every aspect. In Clayton County, Chime Solutions provides its employees with “daycare support, home-ownership seminars and access to credit-repair services – all designed for economic uplift,” according to Wilson. Chime Solutions, according to Wilson, is currently training between 250 and 300 people in Charlotte. After completing training, those new employees will earn a starting wage of at least $14 an hour, which is above the industry standard.

Chime Solutions is actually Wilson’s second venture in the customer support space. Years ago Wilson founded RYLA Teleservices Inc., a startup launched from his basement. Wilson named the company after his children, Ryan and Lauren. According to Wilson, “RYLA was a 3,000- to 4,000-person company with upwards of $150 million in sales.” Chime Solutions is growing and in doing so, helping to uplift its employees and communities badly in need of revitalization. We salute Mark Wilson and Chime Solutions.

I would love to apply for current open positions. What are the requirements for me seeking employment with the company? If someone would get back in contact with me I’ll truly appreciate it.

This is a fantastic story, especially being this isn’t their first go-around. As someone who looks to add call support services to our business, I’ll definitely be looking into Chime Solution’s offerings.

This is AMAZING. Dallas (and TX) is pretty tough place for black people these days, but it is good to see good people like this foraging ahead.

I look forward to supporting black businesses and hopeful money will stay in our communities. And circulate there for longer periods of time.
