Chicago Woman Starts Online Dress Rental Company

Need something fabulous to wear this New Year’s Eve but both your cash and your wardrobe are limited? Well, The Frock Shop, a black-owned online dress company, is here to save the day. Chicago native Jennifer Gist Burrell launched the company in 2011 after feeling frustrated with the many already worn event dresses cluttering up her closet. The site offers evening, cocktail, and party dresses in sizes 0-22 and dresses can be rented for periods of 4, 7, or 10 days. How it works:

  1. Choose your dress by either ordering online or visiting The Frock Shop’s Chicago retail loft.
  2. The Frock Shop ships your dress so that is can arrive on the date you select.
  3. Return your dress by placing it in the pre-paid envelope that we have provided for you. Drop your envelope in any UPS dropbox. No need to dry clean!
