How many cupcakes do you eat in a year? Every sweet bite you take could create wealth and opportunity for Black people. Before you make your next cupcake purchase, check to see if the bakery is Black owned.

To help you get started, here are several cupcakeries from around the country. They’re all amazing but also different; some are traditional brick and mortar stores, others are home based bakeries eager to provide treats for your next event and there are also mobile cupcake businesses. Bonus: many of these businesses offer online ordering and shipping so make sure you check them all out! Let’s develop a new habit when shopping: look for Black owned companies, FIRST.

  2. Do you count franchises owned by black folk. Gigi’s cupcakes in Bee Cave, Texas just outside of Austin is owned by 3 black dudes – 2 ex NFL players and one regular dude. lol
