Dr. Martin Luther King Jr: A Timeless Pillar of Equality, Community & Social Change

Dr. King was an advocate of causing disruption to create change. Everyone should remember that when trying to discredit the Black Lives Matter movement. BLM is only a start and we must not take our ‘foot off the pedal’ during these critical times. Change doesn’t happen by making people feel comfortable. So I say create peaceful disruptions and make people feel uncomfortable about how minorities are treated in this country and let’s create change. What exactly am I asking of you here you ask? Well, Roy Moore was very close to becoming Senator of Alabama. He was beaten By Doug Jones by the smallest margin. Thus, change must start for us at the state levels and the next couple of years in American politics are vital to exacting this change. It is time for these corrupt and racist bigots to be voted out of office and replaced with those who stand for equality and social change in their respective communities. It is time we demand that they keep their promises in ensuring and protecting our rights as MLK once did. We have power when together so we must be together to use this power. Our Power. It is easy to forget that there were good White people who also participated in the fight for our Civil Rights. I believe that it is going to take their efforts to hold their own accountable and ultimately help get us where we need to be. Heroes still exist and MLK is my hero. I was born and raised in Atlanta and attended Morehouse College just as he did. I want to be a symbol of hope and change just as he is. Stay tuned as I produce independent films focused on social justice this year for Mystery Dinner Studios. I leave you with a final quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”]]>
