Jay-z who bought 100 copies. A few years later he relaunched the campaign with his “Mailbox Money” mixtape. He made it free for digital download and sold 100 copies for $1000 along with tickets to a private listening session. “Neighborhood” Nip is now taking that innovation and rebellious energy to the tech world.

Nipsey Hussle Opens World’s First Smart Store

In June Nipsey Hussle opened what he calls “the worlds first smart store” in Los Angeles, California. Customers can download a free app and use it to access exclusive content that can only be accessed while inside the store. It gives fans an exclusive in-store experience. E-commerce is taking over the retail business but the “smart store” format incentivizes actually going out to a physical store. The Marathon Store sells The Marathon Clothing, Nipsey Hussle merch as well as music.

Investment In Cryptocurrency

In August, the California Rapper bought ownership stake in cryptocurrency company Follow Coin. Cryptocurrency is a digital currency in which encryption techniques regulate the generation of units of currency and verify the transfer of funds without the use of a central bank. While cryptocurrency is still in its infant stages, most experts believe it will one day replace the U.S. dollar as well as most other currencies. Other artists such as DJ Khaled, Nas, and Ghostface Killah to name a few, have all recently invested in cryptocurency.
