Gifting can usually be an exhausting and expensive proposition.
With the ever-expanding list of birthdays, work anniversaries, religious holidays, house warmings, baby showers, weddings, and other events that happen during the year, not to mention your commitment to buying Black, it can take an inordinate amount of planning and extra leg work to find the perfect combination of gifts to make everyone happy.
Well, that’s how it used to be, anyway.
Now, there’s a Black-owned gifting business featuring hand-curated items that can solve any gifting conundrum you may find yourself caught in. Olive and Grey is a gift-giving company, specializing in finely designed gift boxes for all the people and occasions in your life. The company prides itself on sourcing unique, one-of-a-kind items, including many recognizable brands as well as selections from undiscovered small businesses.
Many of the gifts come inside a wooden keepsake box and the boxes are organized into categories like “Work Life”, “Pamper Me”, “Home Sweet Home”, “Wedding Knots”, and “Everything Baby”.
Olive and Grey is the creation of Michell Ratcliffe, who discovered her knack for arranging beautiful things while working in corporate foodservice marketing. After 20 years in the industry, Ratcliffe was ready for a change and began thinking of what her next move would be professionally. After interviewing past supervisors about her strengths and weaknesses, a chance encounter with a real estate agent who was delivering a gift to a new home owner, sealed Ratcliffe’s fate.
For Ratcliffe, Olive and Grey is truly an outward expression of her creativity and she brings her unique artistic skills and marketing savvy to the beautiful gift boxes sold at Olive and Grey.
“You think it’s going to be one thing and then you start making it, and something else happens,” Ratcliffe said of her creative process.
