Earl Lloyd, the FIRST African American to Play in a NBA game, signed this limited-edition and wrote the essay on the art. It is INSPIRATIONAL!  In his essay Mr. Lloyd tells the story of the people and players who made a difference in his life and provides insights and lessons for the next generation. Witnesses to the agreement and signing were Earl Lloyd, Charlita Lloyd (Earl's wife), Earl's attorney, photographer Wade Payne and artist Peter Featherston (the artist). Earl SIGNED a total of 495 numbered pieces at the La Quinta Hotel in Cookesville, Tennessee  in July, 2007 and at The Naismith Basketball Hall Of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts in September, 2007.


ARTIST:
Peter Featherston, of Connecticut, is a basketball fan, x-rec-player and sports lover. He met Mr. Lloyd in 2006 and agreed to create this limited-edition with him. Other clients of his include PGA Legend Byron Nelson, John Updike.

THE PROCESS:
Letterpress is a old and timeless method of engraving art by hand, one piece, one color at a time. Earl's art was forged by the foremost letterpress expert in America— Edward Finnegan of Tamarack Press of Brooklyn, New York. His clients include President Ford, historian Shelby Foote and many musicians and entertainers. All text was engraved into heavy Coventry Rag stock and pictures placed accordingly, then signed by Mr. Lloyd.
