"How I Met..." is a series for early readers about African American inventors, civil rights leaders, black activists and the resilient men and women who have helped shape the modern world as we know it today. Each book will highlight our unsung heroes through the interaction between different members of the Robinson family. The reader is transported to the time and place of the subject's world and, wherever possible, presented with images of the person the children in the family are "meeting." It is a wonderful way for young kids to learn the stories of many famous African American's, as well as those who contributed so much to our culture. These are usually the names of some of the greatest achievers in history that are not taught in schools but, need to be acknowledged as the American treasures they truly are.
This is a great book for 2nd or 3rd graders. Black boys 7-9 and its, just a cute, informative book with blacks characters from black authors.
