YES....the LAKE is PINK but SALT IS WHITE...

'they' been LYING TO US! lol!  Pink salt has food coloring, salt always has and always will be WHITE because it dries in the sun... the sun bleaches it white.  The proper name of our 'pink' lake is

Lake Retba and it's FREE for anyone to come and mine salt there.  The men mine the salt and provide the labor, the women run the business.

There's about 900 workers there from Guinea, Gambia, Mali & Senegal, West Africa.

Salt%20photo6.jpg

Regarding 'pink salt' - that's not natural in nature.  There are MANY PINK LAKES but there's no such thing as pink salt.  When salt is mined it sits in the sun, it's kind of a grey color then it turns WHITE never pink.  Never.

ALSO where are the Himalayas?  It's a MOUNTAIN RANGE IN PAKISTAN!  How is that 'sea salt?'

See how they be lying?!  Why we you supporting terrorists?! haha!  What kind of CULTURAL CONNECTION do you have with PAKISTANIS or them other folk... doing the KOSHER SALT from the 'Dead Sea' in Israel - really?  Just THINK ABOUT IT and ask yourself WHY?!

U know they hate us.

Well, now you have a GENUINE CONNECTION from THE MOTHERLAND!

Support African Salt Miners and get AUTHENTIC SEA SALT right here on WeBuyBlack.com!

NOTE: 100% ORGANIC SALT FROM SENEGAL IS ALSO KOSHER! WHERE MY HEBREWS AT???

GET YA'LL SOME SALT & SUPPORT!

450gr/1lb of AUTHENTIC AFRICAN SALT! Africans have salt too! lol!

Most people don't realize that the 'sea salt' they are buying is from Pakistan... or 'Dead Sea Salt' is from Israel - what does this have to do with anything you might ask?

 Well, everything and nothing.

If you prefer to spend money with people from the Continent, you CAN.  If you prefer to buy salt DIRECTLY from the people who mine it here in Senegal (THAT is 'Fair Trade'... no middleman NGO or manufacturing company), then you CAN.  If you knew that these historical salt mining roots in West Africa go back CENTURIES - would that make you change your spending habits?

I'm hoping it does!

Pink Lake or Lake Retba, it's proper name, is populated by a little over 1000 people who work there, over 600+ men and about 400+ women, yes, almost an equal number of women to men. The men gather the salt from the lake, scooping it onto their straining nets, and then pouring it out into the hand made boats. The boats hold up to TWO TONS OF SALT... yep!  Then they go to the shore where the women unload the salt and pile it up around the lake to dry.

There are three types of salt, fine/table salt, thicker sea salt and then Epson salts.

The Epson salts are AMAZING and great to soak your feet & body in! It's so POTENT only a dab will do ya!  You don't need a lot so don't waste it!  This is all you need:

Salt%20photo%202.jpg

100% PURE, ORGANIC SALT DIRECTLY FROM SUB-SAHARA AFRICA!

If you look at the photo below you will see the Atlantic Ocean, then the beach/dunes (Sahara Africa) then the 'Pink Lake' - there is are only about 1/2 mile between the two and the sand dunes are the buffer that contains the lake as well as the ocean, keeping them both separate.  THIS is what's feeding the salt into the lake, the ATLANTIC OCEAN so that's what makes it 'Sea Salt' - when you're buying 'sea salt' check the source, look at a map and make sure people aren't lying to you.  Sea salt HAS to have an ocean nearby logically, right?

Otherwise it's not 'SEA SALT!'

Salt%20photo%203.jpg

Also, there is a FRESH WATER source right next to the salted lake and the Atlantic ocean! lol! Lake Retba is an AMAZING PLACE and YOU have the opportunity to buy clean, African salt, directly from Senegal!

Product questions

Why is the cost more than double other specialty salts (dead sea, pink salt, himalayan, etc..). I want to support black, but having an issue with paying more than double to do so.

Hello John and thanks for the question! It's a good one but people don't understand one simple fact of life:

    SHIPPING FROM AFRICA! lol!

Other salts are brought to the US by containers 2, 3 or 4 years ago, sit in warehouses at Amazon or Whole Foods (if you're indeed buying 'specialty - people have told me those are around the same price range) but anyway they buy for pennies on the dollar and sell at 2000/3000% profit and no one bats an eye.

We can't do that however because there are more factors involved, #1 being we are ACTUALLY sending you salt mined at Pink Lake/Lake Retba in Senegal. Those guys mining salt didn't go to school, don't now how to use computers and certainly can't type and read English, nor do the internet marketing that goes into selling it. I have been selling Lake Rose salt under my AfricanHerbal brand for 20 years... It's not new for me.

(look up public.fotki.com/senegalstyle for my old picture host page!)

THEN I have to have someone bring me the 50lb bags from the Lake to Dakar and buy from them, pay for the taxi (it's about 60 miles from the city) and then bag it up, purchase the packaging & labels, write up the envelopes and take to the post office to ship.

It's international mail, not within the US. Here's a link to my private shipping page:

    https://www.facebook.com/SenegalStyleShipping/photos/?tab=album&ref=

I have so many individual customer photos it clogs my computer memory!

I hope this sheds light on the 'why' part of your question. I don't know if you saw this video, but it went viral not too long ago:

    https://www.eater.com/22274514/how-60000-metric-tons-of-salt-are-harvested-from-lake-retba-senegal-africa

The person who made it wasn't here at the right time, they came during the hottest part of the summer so the lake wasn't very vibrant like it is now when it's 'winter' here.

It ain't easy my friend and Africans aren't slaves - they need to be paid fairly for their work just like everyone else! lol!

    Sincerely

Hi, do you ship to Russia?

Hello & GREETINGS from Dakar, Senegal!

Please 4give me for the delay in responding - I didn't see your message!  Unfortunately the WeBuyBlack platform is a bit problematic for sellers and this is one reason... There is a section for 'messages' that I check all the time but there's another one under a different section, in 'catalogue' 6 subjects down called 'questions' that I always forget about because it's so weird, random and not in the same place!

    ANYWAY, Sorry About That!!

YES SIR we ship to Russia, there's an additional $5 fee for extra shipping costs for every pound so if you're buying 1lb of SenegalStyle Sea Salt for example, it will be $25.50 including shipping. 2lbs would be $51, etc. I'll send you a bill separately thru paypal for those costs.

It's funny you asked about this (or that I'm just seeing it) - I just posted something on my fbook wall today for our 100% pure African Black Pepper/Sea Salt combo. It's GREAT STUFF! I have another combo with Sea Salt, Garlic Powder and Dried Parsley. I take one pinch of both to sprinkle on french fried sweet potatoes today and man oh man... DELICIOUS!

I haven't listed it here yet but if you're interested, let me know.
The samples are $5.50 or 1/2lb each is $25.50 including shipping (plus $5 extra for Russia)

Here's a link to our other WeBuyBlack items.  If you have any questions, drop me a note at SenegalStyle@gmail.com so I am sure to see it!

and Etsy too - it's easier to see the wholesale items if you'd like to sell our AfricanHerbal products in Russia (like Fonio for example, another HUGE seller for us!) in one place:

I'm American and this is my business.  I make the seasonings/combos personally and procure the product, package and ship myself.

Thanks again!  The packages sometimes run heavier so for 1lb including packaging we still  have 450 grams international shipping weight and we're covered. Also here's a link to my shipping page so you can see I'm legit!  I have so many packages going out the photos were clogging my computer memory and it's just easier for me to store them for customer follow ups (and delete) there:

YES by international law (or just common sense!) every country in the world that mines salt for nationwide or world wide export adds iodine to their salt. It's to prevent gout... if you watched the video you'll see the young man discuss this as length as well.

Here's a google search of other videos, the person who did the last one went in the dead of summer when the lake isn't very pink. Check out how vibrant and colorful it is NOW though! It's 'winter' here in Senegal although it doesn't get very cold here.

I'm American and this is my business.  I make the seasonings/combos personally and procure the salt products from the guys in the video, package and ship myself.

They honestly don't have the capacity to do this and I set this up YEARS AGO, more than a decade! They sell 100 lb bags for export by container but don't have small quantity sales exposure for the sea salt internationally.

I call this 'FairER Trade' because I buy the salt directly from them, package it up and ship to YOU!

How would i go about using your product in a more Canadian style salt use.
i saw the lady in your video she rinsed the salt and threw a hand full in a dish.. for me that's not practical, i much prefer the salt shaker after i cook type use. I'm interested, however it needs to work for me also. your thoughts please.
    les.
P.S. I believe i may have found an item you folks might be able to use to assist in your work, it's called a "Sand Scoop" used for gold mining stainless steel. The price is very insane, however the idea i believe is very sound possibility.. put that item on a pole and and who knows, .hope this opens up new possibilities or ideas.

Hello Leslie and thank you for your lovely letter!

Rest assured, that lady's cooking habits aren't normal here in Dakar! She's sitting at the side of the lake in the sand with a tent pitched over her cooking for the guys that mine the salt and the women who help them harvest it. Most people are the same as you, salt shakers or a pinch or two here and there as we cook, but it's in some type of container.

We have the LOVELIEST FINE SEA SALT you have ever tasted! In fact, I also sell on Etsy and someone posted a review, an Asian lady from California and shared a photo of the dish she prepared using it. Let me give you a link:

If you scroll past the ad you'll see it; the top review! I've been selling table salt for these guys for over a decade!

    https://www.etsy.com/listing/706207776/lake-retba-dr-sebi-african-sea-salt?ref=shop_home_active_18&frs=1&crt=1

Re the sand scoop, if the price is insane, forget about it! They will never spend money to upgrade their materials... ! It is what it is. You aren't the first person to suggest something and they will keep doing it the same way they have been doing it unless someone gives it to them free! haha!

ANYWAY, when you order just drop me a note that you want the fine salt that's for shakers and that's what I'll send, not a problem, I have all three in stock and ready to go!

My apologies for the delay in responding! I didn't seen this message previously. It's in a weird place on this platform. I just opened up the 'catalogue' section and there's 20+ messages here. I feel terrible!

Handwritten by me, with an INSANE number of stamps! lol!  They don't have Pitney Bowes machines here in Senegal!  It's a private company, not international.  I didn't know that until I moved here!

Anyway, you'll have great souvenirs!
